🏆 College Boccia Team Triumphs in Regional Play-Off!
We are incredibly proud to announce that our college Boccia team has WON the Regional Boccia Play-Off—achieving a phenomenal 16–0 victory against last year’s regional and national champions, B-Met.
This outstanding result secures their place at the National Championships, where they will proudly represent both our college and the West Midlands this April in Nottingham.
Our coaching team could not be prouder of the players’ determination, teamwork, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. They have been an absolute credit to the college from start to finish.
Well done to our amazing Boccia champions! 🎉

🌟 Employability Star of the Week: AH 🌟
This week we are delighted to celebrate AH as our Employability Star of the Week!
AH had an outstanding week at Café on the Green, demonstrating maturity, initiative, and a brilliant work ethic. From the moment he arrived, he got straight to work, confidently identifying tasks without needing to be prompted. His focus and commitment shone through in everything he did, consistently producing work to a high standard.
A highlight of the week was AH taking on the challenge of following a recipe independently to bake a cake—an opportunity he embraced with enthusiasm. The result? A fantastic success!
Well done, AH!
Football League Results
Our HBVC football team played 5 more Birmingham FA PAN ability education league fixtures this morning. Our students fought hard in the cold as they always do, winning 3 matches against Dudley, QAC and Westminster. Unfortunately, we weren't able to make up any ground on the top 2 today, losing narrowly 1-0 to last year's league champions Hereward and to BMET. We were able to put some daylight between ourselves and QAC below us in the league, finishing the day in 3rd place overall.
Our development squad also enjoyed playing some friendly fixtures against other colleges this morning. It was lovely to see our enrichment students having the opportunity to pull on a football kit and represent their college alongside some of the foundation group students from Redditch. Thank you to ES, SG, KS and CH for managing our amazing development squad 🙂 Highlight of the afternoon was JC scoring a thunderbolt direct from a free kick!

Star of the Week!
This week, we are delighted to name IB as our Employability Star of the Week in recognition of her outstanding progress during her placement at Think Tank.
IB has shown exceptional confidence and initiative, stepping outside her comfort zone to take on new responsibilities. She independently set up the object‑handling desk, engaging visitors with curated items and delivering an impressive session to a group of visiting primary school children.
In addition to her hands‑on work, IB also demonstrated creativity and strong communication skills by producing informative leaflets to support the display.
Her commitment, professionalism, and willingness to challenge herself have made a real impact.
Congratulations, IB — well deserved!

His positive attitude and readiness to get involved have been widely praised by staff, who noted how well he adapted to the busy café environment.
Well done, AA — an excellent example of dedication in action!

The Nick Taylor Memorial Gala Day 2024
On 06/06/24 the whole college attended our annual Gala Day at Redditch United Football Club's Valley Stadium. This year the day was held in memory of Nick Taylor, a much loved and dearly missed member of our college family who sadly passed away suddenly in July 2023.
Students, staff, visiting colleges and invited guests enjoyed a football tournament with 3 other SEND colleges; QAC, Wolverhampton College and Walsall College; as well as a staff versus students match, and fun activities including a Tombola, inflatable velcro dart football, beat the goalie, velcro golf, a coconut shy, beat the clown, and inflatable connect 4!
Congratulations to Walsall College, who won the tournament and the inaugural Nick Taylor Memorial Winners Trophy this year!
The Staff vs. Students match was a tense and thrilling game, ending in a 2-2 draw! Well done to all involved!
We were fundraising on the day for a charity close to Nick's heart, Zoe's Place Baby Hospital in Liverpool. We would like to extend a massive thanks to all who took part and donated, together we raised an amazing £480! You can see our donation and more photos and videos on the memorial page here: https://nick-taylor.muchloved.com/
It was lovely to see so many people smiling and enjoying the day and the various activities and experiences. Thank you to Redditch United Football Club for being such wonderful hosts again this year, to our guest colleges and visitors for coming and joining in the fun, to our wonderful staff team who all worked incredibly hard on the day, and to the organising staff team for the hard work you all put in to making it such a wonderful day for everyone, and most importantly, thank you to our students for taking part, having fun, celebrating and remembering our wonderful Nick.
